In a previous devotional, we touched on the subject of “What is your Bread”. This subject is worth investigating, seeing that “Bread” is mentioned about 492 times in Scripture. We discovered that “Bread” can be likened to the doing of God’s Will (John 4:34).

Jesus spoke these words after explaining the meaning behind the Parable of the Sower. The same “seed” (identified as God’s Word in v11) produces different results, depending on the condition of the soil and how the seed is received.

We must know how to get into His presence and simply be found in Christ. This week’s devotional will encourage us to keep moving forward in faith, by saturating ourselves in His Word. Whatever troubles you may be going through this week, keep putting your trust in the Lord.

In 1 Samuel 14:6-7, we learn from the audacious faith of two persons – Jonathan, the son of King Saul, and his personal armour-bearer. At a time when Israel was troubled by the Philistines and everyone, including Saul, was living in fear, two men rose to show the way of faith.

What comes to mind when you think of bread? If you are hungry, perhaps a “Bread Talk” treat would pique your interest. As a child I remember TV commercials that talked about a brand known as “Wonder Bread”. The tagline for Wonder Bread was that it “built strong bodies in 12 ways”.

What if a lost soul chooses not to believe in the Saviour, Jesus Christ? According to God’s Word, he will perish in hell. Perishing in hell doesn’t mean that he would become nothingness or no longer exist; but rather, he will be suffering in a place of torment for all eternity with full consciousness.

Over the past weeks, our church sermon series has been on the direction of “Revival”. We must take heed to the warnings and not just contend for the blessings.

Based on his earlier discussion, the author of the letter in Hebrews 4:11 issued a call for believers to stay focused and diligently seek to enter the promised rest. Believers, he admonished, must not emulate the bad examples of the disobedient Israelites, who had their blessings forfeited through unbelief.

What does God say about our lives? It does not matter what the world says or what other people say, what matters is how God assesses a situation.

Our world today is more watchful than it has ever been. We watch over almost all our possessions like a hawk. We guard everything. Buildings have security guards, houses and cars have locks and security systems. Our valuables are under lock and key. Mobile phones, banking, and other important security applications are password-protected.
