Since the age of 14, Sharon Lee was plagued by an autoimmune disease known as Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE). This disease actually causes a person’s immune system to attack various organs or cells of the body, causing damage and dysfunction to them. Its end result has always been chronic inflammation. When attacked, the shape of Sharon’s body would swell drastically as she could hardly pass urine or move her bowels. Her face would puff up and her swelling eyelids would almost completely cover her eyes. Furthermore, her nose would enlarge until it looked like that of an elephant’s. The joints in her limbs would be bloated and stiff. And she would have rashes all over her body. To make matters worse, her immune system would be very low.
Sharon reckoned that she was doomed to a life of misery as there was no known medical cure for her condition. Doctor even warned that in the worst case scenario, any organ of her body could be attacked and become permanently damaged. In the hospital, steroid was administered to deal with her symptoms. And when the swelling had subsided, she would be discharged. From then onward, she had to be hospitalized whenever her condition became acute.
Some years later, she met her husband who was willing to accept her condition. After marriage, Sharon became pregnant. Again, her body swelled up. This time, it looked like a big ball. That was when she discovered that a victim of SLE is strongly advised against getting pregnant as it poses high risk for both the mother and child. Besides, a child could also be born abnormal.
Sharon found herself facing a terrible dilemma when doctor advised her to abort the baby. She understood that both she and the child were subjected to tremendous risk if she decided against terminating the pregnancy. But she just could not bring herself to abort the baby. Though a backslidden Christian at that time, she still feared the Lord and knew that abortion meant taking a life. With much trepidation, she decided to keep the baby.
In the fifth month of her pregnancy, her regular medication had to be stopped because of the danger it could bring to the baby. Other than her SLE-related symptoms – the swelling and the rashes – she also suffered from very high blood pressure. That actually further complicated the pregnancy. Her condition demanded that she be hospitalized immediately for close monitoring. The plan was for her to have early labor after 28 weeks of pregnancy. This was to ensure that the major organs of the baby would be developed sufficiently. This would also minimize the risk posed by her high blood pressure. However, after only 27 weeks, she had to undergo Caesarean section to retrieve the baby because her blood pressure was dangerously high. Born at 740 grams, baby Annie was placed in an incubator with the life support system.
In the meantime, Sharon found herself walking in a dark tunnel and taking the longest time to search for a way out. Eventually, she saw a light and walked toward it. That was when she woke up and realized she had passed out for three days. Immediately, she asked for her baby and was desperate to see how she was. Her husband pushed her in a wheelchair to the baby intensive care room because she was just too weak to get up. Sharon asked about Annie’s survival rate and was told by the nurse not to have too high a hope. Right at that moment, she saw a poster that say, “With God, nothing is impossible.” She mustered all her strength just to stand up and catch a glimpse of her daughter in the incubator. The sight was discouraging as she saw all the tubes attached to her tiny and frail body. Desperate, Sharon could only say a short prayer for her baby before she collapsed and passed out again in her wheelchair.
By God’s grace, Annie survived. She grew up wonderfully and hardly needed to see the doctor. All glory and honor to God!
Twelve years passed by. That important night finally came. Other than the severe rashes, Sharon was deeply troubled by some personal problems. In her discouragement and desperation, she cried out to God from 11 pm to 2 am. As she felt so directionless in her life, she asked the Lord to show her the way. At that point in time, she longed to attend a church and was praying for God to direct her to one. She fell asleep at about 2 am but woke up around 4 am. Not knowing what was going on, she wanted to go back to sleep. Just then, she heard a voice mentioning to her, “Lighthouse”. She looked around, but saw nobody. She thought that she was dreaming and therefore planted her head on the pillow again to go to sleep. Again, she heard the same thing. That happened three times altogether. But because Sharon was too tired, she just went back to sleep without thinking too much about it.
The next morning, with the word “Lighthouse” fresh in her mind, she decided to give it a try. Deep down, she believed that it was God who was directing her steps. In November 2003, she attended the Miracle Service. That night, as soon as she stepped out for prayer, she had a vision with her eyes closed. She had a glimpse of Heaven and she also enjoyed the wonderful presence of God. When she went home, she pleaded with God for a healing touch. All of a sudden, she heard an inner voice saying, “Only if you believe, then you will receive.” She found herself claiming and repeating that verse until she fell into a deep sleep.
She attended the Miracle Service again the following Saturday. During prayer, she felt a strong current flowing from her palms down to her entire body. That very night, the rashes on her body subsided significantly. From then onward, as she attended the Miracle Service every week, all the SLE-related symptoms disappeared. Sharon was completely healed of SLE which had no known medical cure. Some months later, she was also healed of hair loss and leg infection of eight months.
With God, nothing is impossible!
