Responsible and victorious believers

James 1:22 (NKJV)
But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.

James 2:17-18 (NKJV)
17  Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.
18 But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.

2 Corinthians 2:14 (NKJV)
Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place.

Salt and light in this dark, fallen world

Matthew 5:13-16(NKJV)
13 “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.
14 “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.
15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.
16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

Self-denying disciples

Luke 9:23 (NKJV)
Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.

Tenacious prayer warriors

Romans 12:12 (NKJV)
rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer;

Effective witnesses

Anointed Ministers

2 Corinthians 3:5-6 (NKJV)
5 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God,
6 who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

1 Corinthians 2:4-5 (NKJV)
4 And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power,
5 that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.

True worshippers

John 4:24 (NKJV)
God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

1.1.1 The Bible is God’s infallible Word for us to live by. It is God’s Written Word that expresses His will and purpose for our lives.

1.1.2 The Lord Jesus Christ is the only way to the Heavenly Father and eternal life. God’s Living Word shows us the perfect example of a holy, obedient, loving and powerful life.

1.1.3 The Virgin Birth, the Incarnation, the Sacrificial Death on the Cross, the Resurrection of Christ from the dead and the Ascension to the Father are all actual events.

1.1.4 The finished works of Christ at Calvary bring us salvation, healing, deliverance, victory, success, blessings, the fruit and gifts of the Spirit.

1.1.5 Through the Holy Spirit, Jesus Christ lives in us.

1.1.6 The Second Coming of Christ is nigh. We are to redeem the time by being and doing our very best with God’s help and for His glory.

1.1.7 The final and complete victory over Satan, sin, sorrow and death is our living hope and reality. As we continue trusting Christ, we are kept by His power. On earth, we have Christ’s delegated authority, and we have to enforce it.

1.1.8 Meanwhile, we are to believe and trust Christ for the best, the highest, the grandest and the greatest. We can fulfill God’s will for our lives, both individually and corporately by His grace and power.

1.2.1 We value each other

Despite our minor differences and diversities, we have been called to co-labor together for God’s glory. Since we are all created in His image, respect and courtesy must be accorded to each other.
Therefore, we must try to bring the best out of each other by creating an environment of love, unity and constructive correction. Be objectively caring for each other.

1.2.2 We value performance

We believe in performance, not excuses. And we will always endeavor to make each other’s job a little easier.
Excellence is our pursuit. We strive for both personal and corporate competence. We will always seek ways and means to improve.

1.2.3 We value communication

We want to keep the flow of helpful communication flowing in all directions. The sharing of vital information is a priority.
Therefore, we will learn to listen patiently in order to understand all the important implications of a matter. Then we are able to respond wisely.

1.2.4 We value teamwork

Teamwork is critical to our success. It is based on truth and trust. Should we make a mistake, we must have the courage to apologize and rectify.
Our word must be our bond. Building confidence in each other means building trustworthiness and dependability. We deliver what we promise.

1.2.5 We value solidarity

Whatever happens, we must always present a united front even in the face of a crisis. Settling personal differences can be done later and privately. If any member tries to sabotage another, he is sabotaging himself also. Remember, united we stand and divided we fall. When we co-operate with each other, we are strengthening ourselves both personally and corporately.

1.2.6 We value integrity

We strive to operate in the highest standards of unquestioned integrity. That must be our culture and a way of life. Should we fail, we must repent and take the necessary remedial steps.

1.2.7 We value principles

Our lives are not our own. We have been bought with an awesome price by the Lord. Therefore, we choose to live by God’s Word and principles.

1.3.1 Teaching

Knowing that the Bible is the unchanging Word of God, we believe in declaring:
- the full Gospel for the total person
- the whole counsel of God for sound and balanced living
- the perspective of eternity

1.3.2 Reflection

Information without reflection leads to mental indigestion and theological confusion. Hence, we strongly urge Lighters to take time for:
- quiet meditation
- self examination
- resolving inner struggles
- getting the right bearing

1.3.3 Application

In order to make your life count, we encourage you to be committed to an area of service for the Lord. A balanced and meaningful commitment to God means:
- time set aside for joyful, faithful service
- time set aside for yourself, family members, relatives and friends
- time set aside to hone your skills for work and ministry

1.3.4 Majoring on the majors

We believe that there are many things in life we should agree to disagree without being disagreeable. We believe that:
- in the essentials, we should have harmony
- in the non-essentials, we should have liberty
- in all things, we should have charity

One of the few issues we stand uncompromisingly is the truth that Jesus Christ is THE ONLY WAY to abundant life, divine life and eternal life.

1.3.5 The End-Result

Our aim is that you may come to grips with scriptural principles that will enable you:
- to draw closer to God
- to deal effectively with life’s daily complexities
- to exercise faith and pray through triumphantly in crises
- to enforce the victory of Calvary over Satan
- to get ready for eternity
